Live Tour de Georgia video now working at Tour Tracker

(Update, April 21, 2008 — Links for watching video and TourTracker for 2008 Tour de Georgia)

Tour de Georgia's Tour Tracker is streaming live video as I write this, but no audio yet for Stage 3. Looks like that breakaway of about a dozen is working a double paceline to put some minutes between itself and the peloton.

It's been a rough start for Tour Tracker the first couple of days, as I know they never got the video and audio up Tuesday, and maybe not Monday either. I suppose a few bugs are inevitable whenever you're dealing with melding new technologies. (Crap just lost the video on a Category 4 climb.)

But when this Tour Tracker is up and running, it's very cool. Forget about getting any other work done on your computer. Right now, there's live video, the CyclingNews feed, chat, GPS map and profile data. One drawback — commercials; but you got to bring home the bread.

Other blogs

The Tour Tracker also shows still pictures from the race, but some of the best I've seen are Frank Steele's at his Tour de Georgia blog. Looks like he's writing and shooting from the race. Here are his flickr.com photos.

For something completely different, I stumbled across The Last One You Suspected Blog. The blogger is the head IT consultant for the Tour de Georgia. Apparently after he gets everything set up, he has time to walk around the finish and get some pictures. He shot an amazing series of photos Tuesday from Ian McKissick's crash that shows the Mulkiteo, Washington, cyclist on the ground, a bike flying through the air, and another rider literally chasing a couple of people away from their house as he careens past.

Technical stuff

The PR blog for training software company Peaksware (formerly Training Peaks) talks about posting the SRM power output measurements from USA National Development Team members online.

Their man with the team downloads their SRM data everynight and posts it to Star of Tomorrow Microsite. Viewers using Peaksware WKO+ cycling analysis software can download the actual race files.
