(Update below: Armstrong to race Leadville 100 bike race in 2007)
“Yeah, I'm pretty much flunking at retirement. I didn't know how much I would miss my sport and all that it provided, both good and bad. From a physical standpoint, I miss the hard training. But I don't miss the racing.”
— Lance Armstrong responding to a question regarding his life after retiring from professional cycling. The 7-time Tour de France bicycle race champion said his various sponsors, businesses and the Lance Armstrong Foundation — not to mention other activities like the New York Marathon — have kept him on the road 200 days in the past year.
Armstrong also talked about how he has transferred his skills as peloton leader to the business world and how companies should show social responsibility.
His sponsors and partners include Nike, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Subaru, and Trek, as well as the 24 Hour Fitness chain that has opened its 7th Lance Armstrong Sport Club.
