This might look like an old beater left outside too long, but it’s actually a classic bicycle sold at auction in England recently.
It’s a Sun Gents Bicycle, built in about 1920. It came with Reynolds tubing and the original paint, period tire pump, chain guard, La Grande saddle, tool pannier, stirrup front and rear brakes and a Lucas Silver King headlamp.
Estimated at 60 to 80 British pounds, the bike from the George H. Fearn collection of Derbyshire brought 127 pounds, or $240.
Considering its age, you might be surprised at its low price. I think one factor is that it was sold at an auction in Harrogate, which features classic cars and motorcycles.
Probably not much interest in self-propelled vehicles there.
