Hitting the campaign trail on a bicycle

Connecticut state senate candidate Paul Doyle and more than two dozen supporters hit the campaign trail by riding a 33-mile bike tour last weekend.

A proponent of frequent exercise, Doyle's choice of a bicycle to get out his message was a good idea because World Carfree Day fell on Friday this year.

The Middletown (Conn.) Press reported the campaign swing hit Rocky Hill, Middletown, Newington, and Wethersfield. Doyle also met up with cyclists riding in the Two Ferry Metric Century bicycle tour.

Said Doyle:

“It was a good way for me to promote exercise and healthy living and increase my visibility at the same time,” Doyle said. “When 25 to 30 people ride through a busy intersection with the same shirts on, it's hard to go unnoticed.”

The Democratic state representative from Wethersfield is running for 9th District State Senate seat. The ride also raised some contributions for the State Veterans Home.
