The Spring City Cycling Club of Huntsville, Alabama, is hosting this Saturday the 22nd running of a century bike ride with one of the most alluring names.
After cyclists finish one of the bike rides of 25, 50, 65, 90, or 107 miles in the “All You Can Eat”, they're treated to showers and a carbohydrate-rich Italian meal followed by ice cream sandwiches.
The century ride takes cyclists through the Appalachian foothills of Madison County, Alabama, and Lincoln and Franklin counties in Tennessee. The century bike ride route includes two big climbs, including Marble Hill with a 12% gradient. There are plenty of smaller climbs, as shown in the profile.
Some 400 cyclists from the area are expected to the fund-raiser for the Madison County High School soccer teams. Registration is now just $20. The ride starts at Madison County High School at 8 a.m. Saturday. See the All You Can Eat Century website for directions.
By the way, Huntsville residents have been on two wheels for generations. The Spring City Cycling Club's history dates back to its founding in 1892.
