Remember all the talk last year regarding the biographical movie about Lance Armstrong? Some celebrity and movie blogs are now saying Armstrong's new pal, Jake Gyllenhaal, is interested in playing the lead role in that Armstrong movie.
Gyllenhaal, who starred in Brokeback Mountain, has been cycling with Armstrong in southern California and met him to Paris to see the end of the Tour de France last weekend.
It appears Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood was the first to make the connection between Gyllenhaal and the bio-pic. It was reported there that the 25-year-old actor did a ride-along with in a Discovery team car during Saturday's time trial.
Sony is developing the movie, based on Armstrong's book “It's Not About the Bike.” In January, producer-director Frank Marshall (“Raiders of the Lost Ark” among many others) has said he's directing the movie, but it's caught behind a long line of other projects.
Maybe he's moved up the Armstrong movie a few spaces.
