Felt mountain bike recall

Felt Mountain Bicycles is recalling about 700 bikes sold during the past two years after reports that the steel brake attachment can come off the frame.

The Lake Forest, California-based company imports the bikes made by Kinesis in Taiwain.

The US Consumer Production Safety Commission says there have been three reports of the brakes coming loose, but no injuries. However, the incident could lead to a fall.

The recall includes all model year 2005 and 2006 Kinesis-made RXC bicycles. The bike frames are made with carbon fiber rear seat stays. They are equipped with V-style brakes, but do not have factory-installed disc brakes, says the CPSC. The frames were shipped between October 2004 and April 2006 and sold through bicycle specialty stores for $1,500 to $5,000.

Contact the dealer if you have one of these bikes or contact Felt Bicycles at (866) 433-5887 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s Web site at www.feltracing.com/.
