German cyclist Fabian Wegman won Monday's 128-mile stage, while American cyclists David Zabriskie and George Hincapie survived in the top 5 overall at the Dauphiné Libéré bike race.

While Wegman won for Gerolsteiner, it was Nicolas Inaudi who provided the heroics. The French bicyclist for Cofidis attacked barely one mile into the race and held the lead for 117 miles before he was caught.

Wegman's win gives him the yellow jersey, followed by 5 seconds by Frenchman Thomas Voeckler, riding for Bouyges Telecom, and Zabriskie (Team CSC).

Discovery Channel cyclists Egoi Martinez follows in fourth and Hincapie in fifth. Floyd Landis (Phonak) dropped to 14th, but just 13 seconds out of first place. Another American, Levi Leipheimer for Gerolsteiner, sits 21 seconds out of first in 51st place.

Tuesday's 125-mile stage gets hilly toward the finish in Saint Galmier, but still nothing like the mountains that are coming up in later stages of the bicycle race that ends Sunday.
