President Bush received gifts valued at more than $17,000 last year, but the most expensive was a Trek mountain bike.

The commander in chief of Peloton One received a $5,474 mountain bike from John Burke, president of the Trek Bicycle Corporation. Bush also received two pairs of cycling shoes, valued at $515, from the Trek Nike Cycling Division.

The bike gifts and others were reported in financial disclosure reports released Monday by the White House and reported by Reuters.

Other gifts include an iPod and book from Bono.

Trek's Burke was appointed to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports in 2002. According to a White House press release:

“Burke created the 'Trek 100,' a bike ride to raise money to fight childhood cancer. The 'Trek 100' is the largest single-day fundraiser for childhood cancer research in the United States and has raised over $3.4 million in the past twelve years.”
