“I thought it was great; every race doesn't have to be an epic death march. It was an exceptional course that made for exceptional racing. The top 10 was tightly packed (only 1:58 separated Landis from No. 10 finisher Jason McCartney of Discovery Channel). It made things more exciting; it added to the drama.”
Jeff Corbett, director of the Piedmont, Calif.-based Health Net team, recapping the inaugural Tour of California, which ended Sunday. While most had good things to say about the course and organization, the one drawback was that the overall race winner (Floyd Landis) was decided on the individual time trial on Wednesday. Organizers say they may change the course so there's more drama later in the week.
