An Indiana man bicycling to New Orleans to raise money for hurricane relief was struck by a car in Alabama and gave up the trip.
Danny Schnell, 50, was riding his bicycle on a busy state road near Birmingham when a car struck his bike, damaging the bicycle but not injuring Schnell.
The Associated Press reported:
The bike could have been repaired, Schnell said, but he decided the accident was an omen and that his trip shouldn't continue.
“It didn't hurt me but it knocked me off my bike and shook me up.”
Schnell has bicycled to raise money for various charities, including the American Heart Association.
