BOB Trailers Inc. is hitching up its bike trailer business and moving from San Luis Obispo, California, to Boise, Idaho.

The Idaho Statesman reports that the company is relocating to find affordable housing for workers and more space for its bicycle trailer and stroller operations.

Although the trailers are made in China, the business operations employs 13 people in the US. Company president Roger Malinowski told the Statesman that it plans to hire 11 more folks when it opens in Boise in mid-January 2006.

BOB Trailers got its start back in 1994 in San Luis Obispo under the name Beast of Burden Trailers, which was later shortened to BOB. The founders had created a homemade bike trailer out of an old beach cruiser frame. The next development was a hitch that connected at the rear axle.

The one-wheel trailer is used for road and mountain bike touring and commuting. The company sells two brands, the YAK (pictured above) and the IBEX, which features a suspension. BOB also makes strollers.
