The daily drizzle is descending on us in the Pacific Northwest, which means its time to mount those fenders on the bike.
It also means the Cascade Bicycle Club's final event of the year — the Kitsap Color Classic — begins Sunday morning.
For most of us, the ride starts with a ferry ride across the Puget Sound from Edmonds to Kingston (the $30 registration at the Masonic Temple, 515 Dayton Street, includes ferry fees).
The ride features the same three loops this year — Indianola (14 miles), Hansville (25 miles), and Poulsbo/Port Gamble (36 miles). Ride as many as you want in any order. A combined Hansville-Poulsbo-Indianola loop is 64 miles and comprises 23 uphill miles, 27 downhill miles, and 3,597 cumulative feet.
In an email, the Cascade club asked for participation in the ride this year to help support its advocacy, safety and educationpursuits for cyclists. All the revenue — $18,000 — from the Cascade Spawning Cycle was diverted to the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief.
