Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong and fiancee Sheryl Crow say they're going to throw a party for Austin, at no cost to their hometown.
The party is scheduled for October 2, the 11th anniversary of the date Armstrong was diagnosed with cancer.
The Sheryl Crow website reports the event begins at 2 p.m. at Zilker Park Auditorium Shores. Armstrong speaks at 4 p.m. and Crow performs from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The party date also dovetails with the approximate arrival of the Tour of Hope bicycle ride in Central Texas. That cross-country bike ride (San Diego to Washington DC) Sept. 29 – Oct. 8 is designed to raise awarenes and funds for cancer research.
