Target is recalling 494,000 Back Trail Jr. bicycle helmets for toddlers, youth and children. The helmets pictured at left are just 2 of 14 styles in the recall. Check the Consumer Product Safety Commission press release for pictures of helmets in question.

The helmets do not meet the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) safety standards for bicycle helmets and pose a risk of riders suffering head injuries. No injuries have been reported, according to the CPSC.

The helmets were sold under the Back Trail Jr. brand at Target stores nationwide between April 2004 and July 2005 for about $13.

The CPSC says consumers should take the helmets away from children immediately. They can be returned to Target stores for gift cards in the amount of a full refund. For more information, contact Target at (800) 440-0680.

The helmets were manufactured in China by UNA International Limited and distributed by Dynacraft BSC Inc. of San Rafael, California.
