Torelli recalls bicycle tires

Torelli Imports is recalling about 1,100 folding bicycle tires under the Torelli Verona and Lugano Open Tubular brands.

The voluntary tire recall in cooperation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission is necessary because the tire can separate from the wheel and flat out; no injuries have been reported.

The tires, manufactured in Thailand, were sold at cycling specialty retailers from January through July 2005 for $30 to $60. The Torelli Verona model comes in a box with the label: “Torelli Verona 700 X 23 100-130 psi Handmade Open Tubular.” The Torelli Lugano Open Tubular box reads: “Torelli Lugano 700 X 23 100-130 psi Handmade Open Tubular.”

Torelli urges consumers to stop using the tires and return them to a local bicycle store, where they'll be replaced for free. For more information, go to the Torelli website or call 1-800-523-6604.
