While Lance Armstrong is racking more and more days in the yellow jersey in his last professional bicycle race, Tour of California organizers are getting closer to laying out a route for next year's inaugural race.
The Marin Independent-Journal reports that Medalist Sports, the group hired to organize the race, has talked to 15 cities about the possibilities of hosting stages, including San Francisco and nearby Sausalito.
The group is seeking bids from 12 cities to be part of the tour, which was announced in March by Colorado billionaire Phil Anschutz's Anschutz Entertainment Group, or AEG. Medalist Sports also has been talking with the California Highway Patrol about road closures.
