It looks like Tucson police are closing in on a major bicycle theft ring.
Police raided the house recently and recovered 350 stolen bicycles, according to the Arizona Daily Star. No one has put an estimate on the haul, although just six bicycles identified through police reports were valued at a total $14,000.
The bicycles range from mountain bikes to road bikes in kid to adult sizes. Police found the bicycles in the house, in a shed, in the yard and even on the roof. From pictures, it looks like there's at least one vintage Schwinn.
Police haven't made an arrest in the case yet, and maybe the police should wait until they get a conviction before they start auctioning off these wheels. I have four bikes in my garage, and I know a guy who has six in his basement — and we're not even collectors. This guy could have just been a little obsessive about keeping all his old bikes.
