American Bobby Julich finished atop the podium for the second time in a major bicycle race this season, winning the Criterium Internationale in France on Sunday.
The 33-year-old cyclist on the Danish CSC team is having a great year; he also won the Paris-Nice classic just a couple of weeks ago. And last summer he won the bronze medal in the individual time trial in the Summer Olympics.
Meanwhile, Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team's George Hincapie finished sixth in the Brabantse Pijl bicycle race in Belgium on Sunday, losing to Spain's Oscar Freire by a scant few seconds, eurosport reports.
The Belgian bike race marked this season's second return to Euro pro cycling for Lance Armstrong, who supported Hincapie in his bid for the win. The six-time Tour de France champion dropped out of the Paris-Nice bicycle race about three weeks ago, suffering a sore throat and fever. He's spent the past few weeks getting into better shape on training rides.
Armstrong is slated to race in the Paris-Camembert on Tuesday and the Tour of Flanders next Sunday. He announced last month that he would seek a record seventh Tour de France championship this summer, using most of the spring race series as training rides.
