The owners of a bicycle shop on the C and O Canal in Hancock, Maryland, are offering their business to the best essayist.
Pamela and George Whetzel own C&O Bicycle, a shop that offers bicycle sales, rentals and repairs. There's also a general store, garden shop, bunkhouse and shower facility for hikers and cyclists doing the canal towpath.
The 185-mile Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park runs along the Potomac River between Washington DC and Cumberland, Maryland. Essentially flat, the towpath is a prime bicycle touring venue in the region.
The Whetzels are offering the business to the person with the best ideas about promoting bicycling in the area and providing help to novice and experienced cyclists on the canal towpath and other bicycle routes and trails.
You can send in as many essays as you want; each entry costs $250. The winner will be picked April 15, 2005. Follow this link to the contest conditions.
