More than 300 independent bicycle stores in the US — basically your “lbs’s” — received “American’s Best Bike Shops” recognition from the National Bicycle Dealers Association this year.
Forty-eight of those bike shops are located in the Pacific Coast states — California, Oregon and Washington.
To win recognition, the owner or manager had to fill out a detailed application that includes questions about building customer loyalty and how they make their area more bicycle friendly. They must had to agree to be “mystery shopped” by a customer who reports the results back to the dealers association.
To be eligible, the bicycle stores must sell bikes, parts and accessories and offer a service department. Half of sales have to be bicycle-related and be in a physical location — not from online sales.
Congratulations to these hard-working shop owners, managers and employees who rose to the top.
