Let’s make this the local bicycle shop award season. After stumbling across a recently published list of top 50 bicycle shops, I discovered two other lists of best local bike shops that totaled more than 200 names. They’re all listed below.
First Flight Bicycles made it onto all 3 lists
ActiveTimes.com chose its top 50 bicycle shops based on input from readers. The original list contained 80 nominees based on responses from 2,500 readers. The staff narrowed it down to 50, which it ranked.
The National Bicycle Dealers Association bestowed more than 150 America’s Best Bike Shop awards based on a form filled out by individual dealers and unannounced visits by an association representatives.They are not ranked.
Bicycling magazine’s list of about 50 lbo’s is simply explained as “our favorites.”
Oddly enough, very few bike shops appear on all three lists. The nine that did are:

I don’t know why, but Zumwalts Bicycle Center in San Diego is still rockin it since 1931. 4th generation family operation. If you guys value commitment to the sport over gross sales, these guys trump all others.
