The success of last month’s “Build It. Bike It. Be a Part of It.” campaign put the folks at Adventure Cycling Association in such a good mood that they’re offering free trial memberships.

Adventure Cyclist magazine

The campaign raised more than $50,000 toward their work on the U.S. Bicycle Route System — a nationwide network of signed bicycle routes that will connect major cities, parks and other destinations.

To celebrate, the nonprofit bicycle travel association is offering free trial memberships to first-time members.

The offer, worth $40, includes nine issues of  Adventure Cyclist magazine, discounts on Adventure Cycling maps, a copy of Cyclosource book, gear and map catalog, the Cyclist’s Yellow Pages trip planning guide, and access to special organized tours.

You can sign up for the free trial membership at the Adventure Cycling website.

The US Bicycle Route System already is coming together with routes in Maine, New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota. As many as 40 states are currently working on the project with bike routes in various levels of readiness.

The $50,000 raised by the “Build It. Bike It. Be a Part of It.” campaign will help create a “best practices guide” to help those states implement the bicycle route network.
